Effect of reduced dietary crude protein contents of meat quality in broiler chickens

The purpose of this project is to understand how reduced crude protein contents in broilers diet during the growth and finishing phases could alter post-mortem energy metabolism and the subsequent quality of broiler breast meat.

Genome-wide analysis of the potential role of epistasis in the genetic determinism of meat quality traits in broiler chickens

In standard GWA studies, only the additive effect of genetic markers on phenotypes of interest is taken into account. This project aims to examine the effect of epistatic interactions on the observed phenotypic variability in these phenotypes.

Developing new nutritional strategies to reduce the prevalence and severity of breast muscle myopathies in broiler chickens

This project aims to quantify the prevalence of breast muscle myoapthies such as white striping and wooden breast in Quebec (Canada) and to develop nutritional strategies to limit their impact on the poultry industry.
